today its not going to be beautiful, just a record of work in progress, and adjusting to a new system, I can't trim pictures yet
So I took Christmas day off, but this morning (boxing day) I planted up. First I raked off the leaves. The covering tree is an Acacia karoo and drops a lot of fine leaves. I put this in a bucket, put down an inch of vermi-compost from Stephan's production (see worm_composting_help.com or global worming). I'm a very quick planter, bore a hole, plonk it in, made berms of sand around the strawberies which are intermingled with plectranthus and growing in the shade circle of the Acacia, as they took a beating in full sun in this sandy soil. Then sprinkled the leaf sweepings back onto the soil as a mulch, and decorated the beds with nice long Acacia thorns, because my best friend has a way of sniffing out any freshly turned soil squatting on it and then churning it up with gusto. The succulents are raised at home.
here are the strawberries planted among other plants and all among thorns. I added some strawberries to the lemon grass in the blue containers. I hope they like each other. It's an experiment to see if they grow better in containers, may also look nice hanging over edges.
